Disasters-What Did Jesus Say?

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

By Margaret Peggy Henderson Kannaday What did Jesus say to do in a time of disaster? There were two disasters that The Lord talked about. The first one was about those who lost their lives because of Pilate, and also those who lost their lives because the Tower of Siloam fell on them. Jesus used these two instances, as an opportunity to teach those Galilaens about what their attitude should be in response to these disasters. We are now being faced with one disaster after another, and we need to learn what Jesus taught about the subject. Jesus was quite clear in saying that those that were killed were not any worse sinners than the people that survived and lived. Jesus was saying to the people that when a terrible catastrophe occurs; it is a warning to all that survive the ordeal. Jesus not only tells the people that they are no better than the ones that perished, but He goes a step further, and He tells them that they should repent or they also will perish. When we see the disasters through the news reports; what do we do? First, and foremost; we repent of our own sins, and we turn to God. That is the most important response. After that, we need to pray, and The Holy Spirit will lead us and guide us. Those that have matured in the Lord; the real sons and daughters of God are those who inquire of The Lord before they do anything. They know that whatever they do; it is of small value unless it is in obedience and anointed by The Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit will show us how to pray and what to do. Disasters are being televised in every area of the world today, and our first response is to humble ourselves, pray, seek God and turn from any and all of our own evil ways. It is a warning to us, and we must realize that it is only by the grace of God that we have not perished. Repentance is a wonderful opportunity to be refreshed, renewed, and revived in The Lord. The Lord went about saying, Repent for The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand. Why did Jesus emphasis this point? Because we do not know when our time to die will come, but The Lord Jesus was warning us to always repent in order to be right with Him. We are never to take our salvation for granted because we are told to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling, and also that those who endure to the end will be saved. We are told to take heed when we think we stand; lest we fall, and we are not to think more highly of ourselves than we should. Presumption is something to be shunned. It is only by the grace of God that we will be saved, and all the works in the world will not usher us into The Throne of God. Jesus preached repentance all of the time because He loved all of the people, and He didn’t want even one person to perish without eternal salvation with Him. We here in these perilous times need to do the same. Each new disaster and tragedy is an opportunity for repentance, refreshing, renewal and revival. When we do what Jesus taught us to do first, then we will be greatly effective in whatever He leads us to do. Jesus only did what The Father revealed for Him to do, and how much more should we only do as He directs. Let us put The Lord Jesus Christ in His rightful position as The Head and Lord of The Church, which is His Body. Job Interviews: How to Answer “Who is Your Hero?”

Monday, May 26th, 2008

By Bonnie Lowe A fairly common job interview question is, “Who is your hero, and why?” The intent of this question is to find out more about you — your character, personality, and values. If you anticipate this question and prepare your answer in a way that shows the traits you most admire in others — and more importantly, that you have in common with them — you’ll turn this question into another great opportunity to blast your competition out of the water! But there’s a right way, AND a wrong way to answer this question. Here’s the best way to develop your answer. First, decide which personal traits would be best to highlight for the position. For example, if you’re applying for a job as a firefighter or police officer, you’d want to highlight traits such as courage and integrity. Here are some other traits that employers are looking for: leadership, honesty, creativity, dedication, generosity. Next, craft your answer to include the traits you want to highlight. Be careful about naming a celebrity, sports star or politician! Why? Because interviewers are people, and people have attitudes and biases that you’ll be unaware of. Suppose you named Lance Armstrong as your hero because of his total commitment to success and amazing ability to overcome challenges and obstacles. Most people would have no problem with that. But what if the person interviewing you is a woman who thinks Lance is a total jerk for putting his career ahead of his family and leaving his wife for a rock star? It might not be fair, but this interviewer may think you are a jerk for admiring Lance! Do you think she’s going to hire a jerk? People have opinions about people they think they know. You won’t know what those opinions are. So the safest bet is to name a hero they can’t possibly know or object to. Sample Answer: “My hero is my father. He taught me to always do the right thing; to value others and help them whenever I can; to plan ahead, work hard and do my best in any situation; to be a lifelong learner; to smile and keep a sense of humor even when things get tough; and to love, support and protect my family.” Remember, all interview questions can provide an opportunity to highlight not only your qualifications, but also your character and values. Plan ahead, give great answers, and win your dream job! How To Prevent Disaster At Your Outdoor Wedding

Saturday, May 17th, 2008

By Gregg Hall Lots of couple these days are deciding on outdoor weddings just to get away from the traditional church wedding. One of the big benefits to outdoor weddings is that they are much less expensive and sometimes cost nothing. These events take some special planning to be sure they go off without a hitch while you are getting hitched. For example, if you are being married in a public place you will most likely have to hold the reception in another location. Weather is also a huge concern, if you live in an area prone to hurricanes like Florida you may want to have a backup plan if you are getting married during hurricane season! Here are some guidelines to keep in mind while planning your big day. The location you choose is the most crucial part on an outdoor wedding and if you are choosing a true outdoor locale like a beach or lake then you need to be sure that you have shelter available in case of rain. Considering that you plan the event months ahead of time there is no way of knowing what the weather will be like on that particular day. So be sure to have your option B ready in case Mother Nature is being uncooperative. You could also opt for a home wedding around a pool; I have attended weddings like this that are very beautiful. If you are holding the event at a beach or park check with the city or county government to see if they require any kind of permit. Sometimes you only have to get written permission but other times you may have to have a specific permit. Some other things you need to know are whether you can decorate and bring your own tables and chairs, if you can serve food, have music, etc. If your reception will be at the same place and you will be serving alcohol you need to find out if it is allowed. Many parks and beaches do not allow alcohol to be consumed on their grounds. This will prevent any unpleasant situations on your special day, so take the time to plan it properly. If you are planning to be married outside you can take advantage of natural beauty which will save you some money on floral arrangements and other decorations. Just be sure that if you are using a public location or one run by local government that you have permission to put up any decorations. Most will allow you to decorate but you have to make sure that you take all of it with you when you leave. Make sure that you let your guests know ahead of time that the event will be held outside so that they can plan accordingly. You dont want people coming thinking they are going to be inside and not be clothed properly or otherwise prepared for the elements. Be prepared for foul weather if you have your mind set on a place like the beach and be sure that everyone in the wedding party has lightweight clothes that will dry easily if you get wet. You should also abort the idea of a fancy long dress with a train because if it rains it will just get wet and muddy. Be prepared and have a fun special day! Flower Girl Dresses in Many Different Styles

Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

By Kari Eriksson When you are looking at the flower girl dresses, you are going to be a little surprised to how many different styles that are out there and even all the different colors that you are able to choose from. You are going to notice that you will be able to choose a flower girls dress that will match up to the other girls that are in the wedding party. That way they will feel, like they are part of the group and they will not feel like they are left out in the dust when every one is getting pictures taken. When you choose a flower girl dress, you will want to have your flower girl with you so that you will know if they will look right in the flower girl dress that you chose for them. If you are thinking about a rainbow wedding you will even be able to choose flower girl dresses that will go along with the rainbow colors that you have chosen. No matter what the dress that you have chosen you will know that your flower girl dress is going to end up looking great on the little girl wearing it because it seem like no matter what flower girl dress they have on they make them all look great. With all the different styles of flower girl dresses that are out there you will want to take your time to choose a dress that is going to match up to the wedding party and the flower girl perfectly so that you are going to have a great day. You are not going to want to get a flower girls dress that they are not going to be comfortable in because then they are going to want to take it off shortly after they get it on because they are not comfortable. That is why it is a good idea to have the flower girl with you when you are choosing a flower girls dress to wear in your wedding. The flower girl dress is going to be worn more often once the wedding is over because they are made so that the little girl will be able to wear it more than once. Then you know that you are not wasting your money when you are buying a flower girl dress for a wedding day. You may even notice that there may be some little things that you are able to do to make it a little more versatile to the flower girl so that they will be more will to wear it in the wedding for the special day. Make sure that the flower girls dresses are going to be comfortable for the little girl and that they still will match up with all the other girls in the wedding party. Kari Eriksson is an infopreneur and has discovered that flower girl dresses are very popular and came in many different forms and shapes. How To Catch A Rainbow

Friday, May 9th, 2008

By Trevor Kugler Some people may think I’m talking about some “airy fairy” new age subject when I title my article - How To Catch A Rainbow - but that’s not what’s going on here. I’m speaking of the beautiful Rainbow Trout. Otherwise known as a rainbow for short. So how does a person go about catching a Rainbow? That’s what we’re going to discuss here. For our purposes I’m not writing about the “darts” that we all know and love. A dart is a stocked trout. We’ve all seen them. All of their fins have been rubbed off from swimming in a tank with so many other fish. It makes them all but finless. And they thus resemble a “dart”. The other name that fits these genetic anomalies well is “finless wonders”. In any case, that’s not what we are going to be discussing here. We’re going to focus on a true Rainbow Trout that was born in a body of water and has been swimming free for years just as God created it. The first thing you have to do is locate a Rainbow. Rainbow Trout like colder water temperatures. They prefer water from 50 to 60 degrees and will tolerate temperatures up to 75 degrees. With that little tidbit of information, we obviously want to start looking in the northern part of the United States. Rainbows inhabit both lakes and streams, as long as the water temperature is cold enough. This obviously means that on hot summer days, as the water temperature in a given body of water is reaching it’s peak for the day, an angler isn’t going to have a ton of success fishing for rainbows. Fishing success is typically greatest in the spring and fall. Rainbow trout are voracious feeders and strong swimmers willing to hit a wide variety of lures, baits, and flies. Many anglers prefer weighted spinners. The wobbling spoon is another fine rainbow lure. Fly fishers find that streamers, muddlers, and egg patterns fished near the bottom can be depended on to do the trick; black and red, especially fluorescent red, seem to add something of value to the presentation. If you’re more of a bait fisherman, the good old earthworm or power bait are great bets. A bottom rig is the way to go when fishing on a lake. For those who aren’t familiar with this technique, start with a 1/2 ounce egg sinker. Slip it onto your line then tie a #10 barrel swivel onto your line. Now tie another section of line onto the other end of the barrel swivel. You want this length of line to be the length that you want your bait to float off of the bottom. Now attach a small hook to the end of the line. This is where you will add a ball of Power bait that will then float off of the bottom. This technique will work in most lakes throughout the country, especially if there are stocked trout swimming around. But as I said before, I don’t want to focus on stocked trout. When river fishing with bait, live bait will be your best bet. The synthetic baits have never worked well for me with “native” trout. “Native” trout are trout that were born and continue to live in a particular stream or river. Thus becoming “native” rather than planted from an outside source. In any case synthetic baits have never performed well for me for anything other than stocked trout. So you’re best bet to catch a rainbow in moving water will be some form of live bait, whether it be worms, minnows, crickets, crayfish, mealworms, etc. You’ll want to use something for bait that the rainbows are used to eating. The more natural the presentation, the better. You may want to consider employing a set of gang hooks to achieve a very natural presentation. The bottom line is that you want your live bait to appear as natural as is possible. The more natural the bait appears, the more rainbow’s you will catch. It’s that simple. What is True Rejection of Our Lord Jesus Christ?

Sunday, May 4th, 2008

By Charles Crosby The question of the age: Do the unsaved actually reject Jesus Christ, or better, can they do anything else but ‘reject’ Him? Now here is a dictionary definition of rejection? To renounce, denounce, throw away or discard with no further use for - to treat with utter contempt. Now, in order for this reaction to happen i.e. when rejecting a person, there has to have been a real on going relationship in the first place in order for real rejection to take place. To treat someone with utter contempt you must have grounds or a substantive reason, to come to the decision to treat the person in this way. When a boyfriend dumps his girlfriend or a girlfriend dumps her boyfriend their relationship is brought to sudden end and rejection has most definitely taken place. If, on the other hand, you were to walk up to a stranger in the street and tell him you reject him, he would look at you, probably scratch his head in bewilderment, and if he were a kind person, ask you, if you felt OK. If not a kind person, he would probably tell you to do the other thing in no uncertain terms and consider you unhinged. Now this, obviously, is not rejection, yet it is on this very same ridiculous notion that mainstream ‘Christianity’ bases their muddled ideas on rejection of Jesus Christ by the lost and the unsaved. In the event of ‘rejecting’ Jesus Christ on the sandy foundation of the latter example, i.e. that we are strangers to Jesus Christ, how can that be rejection? The lost and the unsaved are complete strangers to Jesus Christ, they don’t know Him nor do they acknowledge Him and He doesn’t know them either. Many today now say He never even existed, so how can there be rejection!! The whole idea and nonsense that the unsaved masses ‘reject’ Jesus Christ is patently a lie and a myth - something that has literally been made up by men of religion - It certainly isn’t Biblical. Now, as described earlier, to reject Jesus Christ on the metaphorical boyfriend/girlfriend basis as in John 6:66, “From that time many of his disciples went back and walked no more with him.” there is only a certain punishment awaiting the individual concerned, for being so cowardly, foolish and/or wicked. Furthermore, if this individual continues in his stubborn refusal to come back to The Lord, he or she will then be, as Hebrews states, in big trouble: Hebrews 10:26-27 “For if we sin wilfully (voluntarily without a thought or consideration) after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, 27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation (God’s wrath), which shall devour the adversaries.” (Brackets mine) This passage applies to people who, now notice, sin wilfully after receiving knowledge of The Truth, and who is The Truth? Jesus Christ of course. These people in John 6 were really rejecting Jesus Christ, they had come to know Him personally, but turned their backs on Him - that is true rejection and cannot be likened nor compared to the non-existent relationship between the unsaved and Jesus Christ. However, yet even whilst Our Lord was dying in agony on the cross He said: “Father, forgive them for they know not what they do.” What we have to ask ourselves here is this: did The Father answer Our Lord’s request? Most assuredly He did, for that is what His sacrifice and the gift of Grace is all about. He died whilst we were still sinners, whilst still in our sins, so that at the point of our calling, everything has already been done for us and all we have to do is believe and more importantly; keep on believing through thick and thin - trusting in faith. Right, all the above knowledge and Truth is a fundamental fact which mainstream Christianity misses and misunderstands because they think that any unsaved human being that ‘rejects’ Jesus Christ in this life is doomed to fiery eternal damnation or hell - their favourite word. OK, let’s assume, just for this article, they are right and we apply this idea to the masses regarding Salvation; all the while bearing in mind that God is a God of love, mercy and forgiveness and at the same time, Jesus Christ said these very words regarding the masses whilst He walked this earth: Matt 13:10-15. “And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables? 11 He answered and said unto them, because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given. 12 For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath. 13 Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. 14 And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive: 15 For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.” (Emphasis mine) These verses clearly state that Jesus Christ was hiding The Truth from the majority of people with only a select few, the called and chosen - the twelve disciples, privy to knowing Jesus Christ and Him as The Truth. All this Biblical evidence flies in the face of the teachings of mainstream ‘Christianity’ even the whole idea that The Father is calling millions of people to His Son in this life. Why do they do this and think this way? Easy, they are deceived by men of religion and are therefore deluded. Now this ‘rejection’ by the unsaved that these deceived Christians get all hung up about can be likened to a child called Johnny who when offered a meal that mum has never prepared before will often say “ugh, I don’t like it and I don’t want it - I hate it” and no amount of persuasion by mum, will get naughty little Johnny to change his mind. However, this is not true rejection of what his mum is offering him because he doesn’t know how good the meal is and won’t know until he’s tried it and what’s more, his loving mum knows this. This is how it is with the unsaved and their ‘rejection’ of what Our Lord offers them. This is why He said “Father forgive them for they know not what they do.” They cannot know what they are doing, because only The Father can open their eyes to show them how lost they are and thereby give them the ability to want to know Him. We as lost souls cannot of ourselves, make a decision to follow Jesus Christ - it’s impossible!! This is the fundamental that mainstream Christianity doesn’t understand - the unsaved don’t know what they are doing. Now I will add in one of my favourite Scriptures; John 6:44 “No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.” Now notice this Scripture carefully, for it is as important for what it doesn’t say as for what it does say. What if the Father is not calling everyone now in this age and what of all those who will be part of the second resurrection? Rev 20, for there is a physical resurrection; Ezekiel’s famous valley of bones proves that. This resurrection is unlike our Born Again Spiritual resurrection which we as true believers in this age will be part of when Our Lord returns - The First Resurrection [1 Cor 15]. This resurrection predates the second resurrection by one thousand years. Rev 20:5. So what is this second resurrection? Rev 20:12 “And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened :” These people are resurrected and judged (evaluated) by their works, and we know salvation cannot be earnt by works. These people are dead; notice “And I saw the dead small and great stand before God.” Not literally dead because they’re standing before God’s Throne, yet they are still dead. How can this be? This can be because they are Spiritually dead not physically dead, so this means these people have yet to live second physical lives in The Kingdom of God and will be given their first chance to repent. This is why John 6:44 is so crucial, because no one can come to Jesus Christ unless The Father draws them. Now moving on, ask yourselves this question: How will this occur? “All Israel shall be saved?” For this is what Our Lord says through Paul in Romans 11:26. What of all the Jews and Israelites that have died in their sins having ‘rejected’ Jesus Christ, having never repented of those sins in this life? Are we, in our stubborn ignorance, going to condemn the unsaved and at the same time create another ‘Biblical contradiction’? Well I for one, am not. Finally and apart from what I have written above on this subject, there is seemingly another twist to this. In Matthew 28:19-20 it says this: “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” Now, is this Scripture a contradiction of what The Lord said in Matthew 13? No, no way, for there are no contradictions in God’s Word just our poor understanding of it. The Lord tells us to teach all nationalities, all peoples, but notice, He doesn’t say “so that multiple millions of them will be converted” Yes, teach all nationalities, but only those I have called and chosen. There we are, Matthew 28:19-20 now has a totally different meaning to what mainstream ‘Christianity’ believes and all due to the fact that they think this life is the only opportunity for mankind to be saved; a blasphemy and a nonsense, and to prove it, let’s go to 1 Tim 2:4 “Who will have (desires) all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.” (Brackets mine.) If God desires something do you think He is going to have His desires satiated or not? Is God all powerful or weak? I will leave you all to answer this question for yourselves. Right, there we have it, concrete evidence that all men will come to the knowledge of The Truth, and who is The Truth? Jesus Christ is The Truth. So all men will come to know Jesus Christ, but when? Well not in this age that’s for sure. Feel free to contact me at yes2faith@yahoo.co.uk if you wish to know more about God’s Truth - Jesus Christ. And Smiles To Go - A Wider Smile Makes A Square Face Appear Longer!

Thursday, May 1st, 2008

By Teena Jain People have become more aware of the significance of aesthetically pleasing smiles these days. And obviously, when you smile, your teeth are on display. Bad teeth or gums essentially bed dental health can mar your smile and make you very conscious. One must remember that good dental health doesnt always require sacrificing beauty for function. Ultimately, emanates form good health. Many habits can ruin a smile. Smoking stains the teeth as does consumption of coffee and tea. Holding objects, like pipe or glasses, in your mouth can cause spaces. Chewing ice or cracking nuts with your teeth can chip or fracture them. Biting, chewing or sucking on the lips or cheeks can damage tissue, and can cause tooth arrangement abnormalities, like spaces. So can constant tongue thrusting or placing your fingernails between your front teeth. Many people erroneously believe that all of their facial defects reside in their smile when, in fact, their problems lie elsewhere. In these cases, plastic or oral surgery, rather than dental treatment, may be necessary, like an incompetent or a short upper lip, wherein your teeth appear to be big and you feel they are jutting out. Virtually everyone can be helped with cosmetic contouring/shaping of teeth to improve the shape of their natural set. By just going to a dentist for treating teeth and gum deformities, you are not assured of a perfect smile. For instance, you may think that if only your front two teeth were capped, you would have a great smile. In reality, however, this treatment may just backfire by making your front two teeth stand out. Facial shapes can sometimes be altered by changing the way you smile. Stand in front of a mirror and observe the shape of your face when you smile. First, smile normally. Next, smile wider. Observe the effect of the wider smile on your facial outline. A wider smile will help a square face to appear longer or oval. If you have a round face, practice smiling such that your teeth show. Open your mouth wide, them smile with your teeth showing. Chances are that your facial profile and smile will improve. While smiling, ensure that the bottom biting edges of the upper teeth are visible. Again, opening the mouth more may keep the lower lip from covering the edges, thus preventing the teeth from looking like a row of chicklets.
